Join us for collaborative, campus-wide event offered by student organizations, academic departments and student affairs offices.Ìý
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) offer valuable educational opportunities to a variety of students. These educational institutions create unique communities with an emphasis on culture and history. We encourage you to learn more about the impact of the nation’ 107 HBCUs and their alumni, and understand their histories, legacies and potential as we honor them this Black History Month.Ìý
February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month (TDVAM). This is an issue that impacts everyone, not just teens, but their parents, teachers, friends and communities as well. Together, we can raise the nation’s awareness about teen dating violence and promote safe, healthy relationships.Ìý
February is not only Black History Month but it is also the International Month of Black Women in the Arts. This month is observed by recognizing the impactful contributions of black women across the areas of healing arts, culinary arts, fine arts, performing arts and literature.Ìý
Inclusive Education
Safe Space Training is a program that provides attendees with information and tools to combat homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, cissexism and heterosexism. As a participant, you will reflect on your own experiences to enhance your personal and professional development, provide further education and identify ways to create change on campus and beyond. Next Safe Space training will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.Ìý
°Õ³ó±ðÌý is live for the spring semester! The form will close on Friday, March 31. We at the OSJD ask that all submitted requests are at least four weeks prior to your requested date. This allows us to secure an educator and adequately communicate with everyone. At this time, we are only allowing two requests per person.
Getting a head start on the spring 2023 semester? Join the Office for Social Justice and Diversity in pursuing a collaborative space for all history and heritage months coming up next semester. The OSJD Community Calendar seeks to provide a central location to seek identity and cultural-based events, offer an outlet for greater collaboration and less siloed efforts and increase the level of support offered to campus partners in acknowledgement of intersectionality. All events will be housed on the OSJD calendar.Ìý
